The Trial – a message from Anna & Grace

workshop theatre production of the trialHello WT students!

Hopefully you will have heard about the upcoming production of ‘The Trial’ at the Workshop Theatre, but just in case you haven’t we thought we’d fill you in on a few more details.

The Trial, written by Franz Kafka and adapted for the stage by Steven Berkoff, is the story of Joseph K, a bank official who is suddenly and inexplicably arrested, and thrown into a law system enclosed in a world of secrets, nonsense and surreal interrogations.

We are looking for actors to work in a high energy ensemble focusing on movement and physicality as well as the fantastically rounded but slightly off kilter characters. We are looking for a large mixed cast of between 10 and 14 to make up this ensemble as well as providing the fantastic male and female named roles.

We are also hoping for the biggest backstage team we can gather. If there?s an aspect of theatre making that you want to get involved with we will be able to find something for you, from set building to costume design, publicity to stage management. If you don?t have any training but are keen to get involved with the more technical aspects then we will do our best to train you (under Lee’s guidance!) so that you feel competent enough to man a lighting or sound desk for a performance.

The auditions for acting are:

Wednesday 30th September 5pm – 8pm Studio 1

Thursday 1st October 5pm – 8pm Studio 1

Details will follow for a meeting with all those interested in being part of the ‘Behind the Scenes’ team, but feel free to audition as well.

Any questions or queries please contact Anna or Grace via:

Or respond to the email we’re sending your way later today.

Please please get involved, we want to make this the biggest and best WT production Leeds has ever seen!

Love

The Trial
