Unheard Voices – the Civilian experience of the First World War in Yorkshire

Workshop Theatre’s Jan Perry, on behalf of Snowgoose Writers Community, is currently coordinating a National Heritage Lottery project ‘Unheard Voices – the Civilian experience of the First World War in Yorkshire.’

Snowgoose Writers Community is one of the first groups in the UK to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) All Our Stories grant. All Our Stories is a brand new small grant programme launched in support of BBC Two’s The Great British Story and designed as an opportunity for everyone to get involved in their heritage. With HLF funding and support community groups will carry out activities that help people explore, share and celebrate their local heritage.

‘Unheard Voices’ has been funded to research, explore and give creative expression to the untold, lesser known stories from WW1- those of the civilians. The project is part of ‘Legacies Of War’ the University of Leeds Centenary project for 2014 – 2018.
